Breathing Ex: Nasal Breathing with many Small Breath Holds

22nd May 2026 By Lisa Pryce-Jones

Try this breathing exercise now and just notice how it makes you feel! Just a few minutes…time for yourself this bank holiday…ideal for calming yourself at anytime.

This particular technique helps to prepare your body for a tolerable feeling of breathlessness. By holding your breath for short periods of time it enables the gas Nitric Oxide (NO) to pool inside your nasal cavity, and for the gas Carbon Dioxide to slightly increase in your blood. After doing it for just a few minutes the accumulated Nitric Oxide travels from the nasal cavity to the lungs. When practicing the exercise (holding your breath for up to 5 seconds) if you experience a feeling of hunger for air it shows that the carbon dioxide is increasing in your blood which is a good sign. However, if you find the air hunger too much simply reduce the number of seconds to perhaps 4 or even 3. In due course you will be able to increase it. This exercise is ideal as a warm up to doing other breathing exercises and also great for reducing anxiety and stress, asthma symptoms and aiding breathing recovery following physical exercise. Please note that breath holds are not suitable for anyone who is pregnant. If you have health issues you may wish to consult your GP or Breath Work Practitioner to discuss the suitability of breath work for you personally.

Meet Nellie from Nara and Dragon Dai from Wales!

17th May 2026 By Lisa Pryce-Jones

Just look at these beautiful new additions to our garden.  Nine years have absolutely flown by since my partner David and I met and we could not resist treating each other with these beauties to mark the milestone and to admire each day as we walk across the decorative chippings to our Zen Den – Nellie from Nara, Japan and Dai the good old Welsh Dragon!

We wanted something to remind us of our incredible trip to Nara in Japan, where the deers bow to you as you feed them deer crackers. The city holds a very special place in our hearts and in Japan deer (sika deer) are highly revered as sacred messengers of the gods (kami) in the indigenous Shinto religion. They symbolize peace, prosperity, longevity, and divine communication.

Thanks to Tim and Debbie of Onnen Studios in Llandilio for our beautiful bespoke metalwork – we absolutely love them Nellie and Dai!

In a World where you can be anything, be Kind!

16th May 2026 By Lisa Pryce-Jones

In a world where you can be anything… be kind.

Kind to people who think differently to you.
Kind to people whose path is not your path.
Kind to people who believe differently, heal differently, cope differently and grow differently.

Not everybody is meant to work the same way, live the same way or see the world through the same lens. Diversity in thought, belief and approach is what makes humanity interesting.

But most importantly, be kind to yourself too.

Do not shrink yourself to fit environments that no longer align with your values.
Do not betray who you are just to gain acceptance.
And do not allow other people’s judgement, ego or closed-mindedness to make you question your own heart or purpose.

Mental Health Awareness Week is a reminder that words matter.
Compassion matters.
Empathy matters.

You never truly know what somebody else is carrying, healing from or navigating behind the scenes.

There is strength in being direct.
There is strength in being spiritual.
There is strength in being practical.
There is strength in being sensitive.

None of those things cancel each other out.

So today, choose kindness.
Towards others.
Towards yourself.
And towards the parts of you that refuse to stop shining just because somebody else does not understand your light.

Together, united,  we can all make a difference and help to make our world a better place.

WEDNESDAY’S WISDOM: A few words – Reflection

15th October 2025 By Lisa Pryce-Jones

Today is a day of reflection. Half the week has gone, and half the week is to come. It is time now to reflect on what you have achieved, no matter how little or how big. Reflection is needed and wanted. When we recognise what we have achieved, what our contribution has been, it can be very powerful in motivating us to move forward to achieve even more. Each and every day is different. Our needs are different. The demands upon us are different. It is for us to determine what we can do. What we can achieve moving forward. It is the process of making these decisions that enables us to consider our purpose moving forward, our role and our responsibilities too.

We all need to contribute, we all need to feel that our contribution is worthwhile. It does not matter what you are doing, what you are contributing, for we all have different skillsets, we are all at different stages of our development and stages of life too. But it is recognising where we are, what we can do, what we have to offer, that enables us to make our choices. Whilst choices, at times, may feel limited there are avenues to pursue should you wish to do so.

We all have responsibilities. It is easy to hand responsibilities and blame even to others, but ultimately, we are all responsible for our life and everything within it. If something is making you feel uncomfortable you need to go within, to reflect, to ask why it feels uncomfortable, what is that inner conflict that is causing the disharmony within you? When you recognise the conflict, that is when you can do something about it by focusing on the opposite. If you are angry focus on things that you love.  If you are anxious think about things that bring you joy and peace. Bring your attention back to your heart centre. Love is the highest vibration. By doing things that you love, focusing on your heart centre, by doing acts of love, whether with the spoken word, written word or gesture, one act often leads to another act. These acts all generate chain reactions.

So, again, focus on what your heart tells you is right for you. Know that all challenges can be overcome. There are answers to everything. But sometimes we need to learn lessons and from our hardships that’s where gratitude really does come in. When gratitude comes in the Universe shows us other ways too. Focus on your heart centre again now, think about everything that you are grateful for in your life, and remember the job that you have might not be your dream job, but it is for someone who does not have one.  There is always positive when you look for it. Think of the wonderful memories that you have, the opportunities that are there for you and just create in front of you now a vision board of what you want to achieve, all your goals – short, medium and long-term asking the Universe to help you for your highest good.

A few words…Kindness

7th September 2025 By Lisa Pryce-Jones

Words of wisdom are fine but it is what is implemented that is important. Listen to your heart, whisper words of kindness both to yourself and others.  Your heart tells you everything you need to know. If it hurts mend it, restart, let go of past hurts and embrace the future. One step at a time. Kindness is the new religion. “The only religion is kindness”  as quoted by the Dalai Lama. Work on being kind to yourself.  For very often you are your own worst enemy.  Love and you will be loved. Be kind and you will receive kindness. Treasure each day.

A few words…Tonics

20th November 2020 By Lisa Pryce-Jones

We all need a tonic in our life.  That tonic may be laughter, it may be love or it may be something else.  Whatever it is it is important for it helps us to renew and replenish our energy, to give us some time to focus or refocus and helps us to energise both our physical and our spiritual being.  Each and every day we need a tonic.  As we wake up we need to reflect upon our needs of the day.  We need to ensure that our energy level matches it and there are times when indeed we need a tonic.  We need a pick me up and we can do this in so many ways.  Each and every one of us are so different. We are all unique.  But we all have needs and these needs need to be met and in order to meet these needs we need to go inward. We need to go inward to reflect, evaluate and reassess what our needs are.

I’m not talking about commitments now I’m talking about an inner need, to look into our soul and when we look into our soul and look at what our soul needs, we are able to take action, we are able to make decisions to do things that really fit in with our lives, with our goals, with our life purpose if you like.  Not everyone can be at the top of the game and that does not matter. What matters is your contribution.  That you feel that you have done the right thing for you.  That you have contributed and you have achieved.

Love and kindness go such a long way as does compassion and virtue.    Solidarity is such an important factor.  When we show solidarity to each other and to causes it helps to bind us together as a community, as a nation and as a family.  So perhaps today you can reflect on what’s really important to you.

A few words…Sand

29th October 2020 By Lisa Pryce-Jones

Sand is immeasurable and so are we as humans.  At any given time we do not know how many grains of sand that there are in the world and similarly we do not know how many humans there are and it really does not matter.  Through life there are naturally peaks and troughs but what really matters is the contribution that each person brings to the table.  We have plenty of everything in the world.  If only people would allow for the wealth to be distributed more evenly.

We are all aware of the greater need that is around us and sometimes it is easier to turn the other way and stay in our own little world.  But how does that make you feel?

It is so much better to do whatever you can to make someone else’s day a little easier. We all have different skills and attributes.  Just by smiling at someone can be the difference between a day being overwhelming and unbearable to tolerable.  What can you do in your day today to help someone? What can you do tomorrow to help again?

If we all carried out just one act of kindness each day our world would transform.  The sharing of love, the knock on impact that this would generate, would be immense.  Think of dominoes all over the globe. We could indeed make such a huge difference to the world just by a small act each and every day.  So as you continue to contemplate the meaning of life ask yourself how you wish to leave this Earth plane.  Be remembered for your generosity of spirit and kindness to others or focussed on material gain and self-indulgence.  The choice is yours.

Best wishes

A few words…Life and Vinegar

28th June 2020 By Lisa Pryce-Jones

Life is like a jug of vinegar.  On the outside it is nice to touch, nice to look at, but sometimes inside the vinegar can be much sharper than you expect.  It can be great if you like vinegar on your fish and chips but we don’t always like to have vinegar splashed all over our food and life is very much like a jug of vinegar.  Each and every day we have different things thrown at us.  Each and every day we have moments that are sweet, pleasant and cherished.  Then there are other moments that are much sharper and much harder to bear.  The very nature of life is that we do not know what is coming.  There is uncertainty all around us and we desperately try to cling to a little bit of control and a little bit of certainty to keep us focussed and thinking as positively as we can.

But sometimes we are thrown off track for a reason and that reason might not always sit comfortably with us at the time.  That reason might be something that we have no comprehension about at this moment in time.  Perhaps we have made decisions and we are on the wrong path but we do not realise it.  Perhaps we are seeking things that are monetary based rather than what is inside our hearts and life has a habit sometimes of knocking us off the path that we have set for ourselves.  Because when we come to this earth plane we all have a purpose, we all have a purpose that we need to achieve in terms of life goals and our life goals are there for a reason.  They are there for us  to be able to develop oneself throughout our lifetime and in subsequent lifetimes we will be able to develop those as well as other skills that we need to and it is all part of our development.

Our development as souls through the lifetimes and this is exactly what is happening at this moment in time.  So many people are on the wrong pathway. So many people are making decisions that are simply not right for us and not right for our planet and everyone has to be taken off their current pathway to reconsider, re-evaluate what is important in life in order that some can go onto new pathways, others can return on their existing pathway.  Whilst to many this may seem futile in the overall grand scheme of things, looking at the entire world, it is so important because we want to be able to live our life knowing that we can hand down things to our children, grandchildren and so forth.  If the world continues exactly as it is the world will not be a very nice place at all.

There will always be challenges, there will always be opportunities, there will always be risks, but collectively working together, united, we can do so much more.  So perhaps today you can reflect about what you are doing, at this moment in time, on your current pathway.  Is it what your heart desires? Are you doing what you feel is your calling?  Have you made decisions that were wrong and more importantly what can you do about it now to make those changes?  What can you do moving forward for the rest of your life to help both those around you and to help the planet?  Think of your family to come, think of the generations and how life could be in a world where everyone supported each other, in a world where everyone appreciated each other and in a world where everybody respected each other.  For it is not your salary that counts it is how you are as a person.

Mental Health Awareness Week – Kindness

19th May 2020 By Lisa Pryce-Jones

We all need to be kind both to ourselves and to others.  Each and every day we are harsh and we are most harsh to ourselves.  We have such high expectations of our self and we worry about things that really do not warrant worrying about.  If we all take a step backwards and take some time we can see what really matters and what does not matter and very often, by taking this time to reflect and look at our inner needs, we realise that actually what we worry about, what causes us great anxiety and even dread, really doesn’t warrant worrying about.

We need the basics in life yes and there are indeed many people who are struggling to achieve this at present.  However, there are many people who are not struggling with the basics and this is where it is much easier to make that transition.  The transition can be made very swiftly just by changing your thought process, by keeping your mind in the present moment, by keeping your mind present in all the things that you do each and every day.  From the time you wake up, having a shower, washing your face, preparing drinks, meals, talking with people, your work, any activities that you enjoy outside of work.

By keeping your mind focussed on whatever it is – noticing all the different things there are to be noticed using all of your senses – your sight, hearing, touch etc. and by using all of your senses it brings you to a sense of being in that present moment, even for a short while and that really does help you.  It grounds you, it connects you to the Earth, it connects you to where you are supposed to be – enjoying each and every moment that we have on this Earth.  You know that tomorrow is not guaranteed.  So we certainly need to plan for tomorrow but we have to use today and make the most of today.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and what I really want to share with you and reiterate again is being kind.  Being kind to both yourself and others.  Because when you are not kind to yourself it is like a form of self-harm or even torture and you are doing it to yourself.  You are bullying yourself.  You are denying yourself the opportunity to be able to enjoy this time that you have at this moment.  So plan, look forward to things, that is really important, embrace those moments when you get the opportunity.  Whether that is to see friends, loved ones, do activities that you enjoy or doing whatever your role is in work.

We all need to be helping each other, listening to each other and by listening to each other and talking we are able to offload so much.  I’m thinking now of a pot of tea at a table and how so much can get exchanged just by having a cup of tea.  What stops you from sharing your thoughts? It could be trust issues, maybe you have been burnt in the past.  But if we all open up more, if we are all honest about what’s going on, we can all look forward, make changes that are needed in our lives to help us  to achieve what we want and what we need in our life in order that we can achieve contentment.

Contentment is what we should all be aspiring too.  The thought that we should all be happy all of the time is simply not possible.  Our emotions, our thoughts will change through the day, they fluctuate.  There are peaks and there are troughs but we can find contentment in things that we do all throughout the day and we can be pleased with ourselves – with the jobs that we feel we have achieved well and that might be literally getting ready in the morning, making a meal, mowing the grass, reading a book or anything else for that matter and it really does not matter.

What matters is that you have done something.  You have contributed and it feels so good within us when we achieve something.  Not everyone is capable of achieving the same things and there are a variety of reasons for that.  Some people are physically unable to do so and that’s perfectly fine but they can do what they are able to do and that’s really important – that everybody contributes and does the best that they are able and that they are content with.

So perhaps over the forthcoming days you can think about your own health and ask yourself what do you need to achieve contentment? What can you do each and every day to gain pleasure from those things around us that are not guaranteed?  There is so much beauty around us and very often we are too busy looking elsewhere to notice it.

Perhaps you can take some time and perhaps you can reflect upon your own life with the beauty of the world that is around you and by doing so each and every day, just like the beauty around you, we can find the beauty in each other and in ourselves.

Love & Light

A message from spirit…Surprise, Surprise

19th March 2020 By Lisa Pryce-Jones

As I meditated yesterday spirit gave me the following message to share:

Surprise, surprise.  There is nothing like an element of surprise.  Surprise, uncertainty and doubt causes mayhem. Mayhem causes panic and panic causes disorder.  Nothing can prepare us for disorder.  Disorder on the streets, disorder in the mind and disorder in our life. What we need now is calmness. Calmness to allow time for thought. Time for reflection and time for evaluation. We have options. We can continue to abuse our power or we can take action to restore the balance of nature, have respect both for people and the planet. What will be if we continue down the present pathway? Where will human life degenerate to? Our thoughts, feelings and emotions are all energy. Energy can be projected positively to the world for universal good. If only we wake up and listen to our hearts I hear you say. For this would and could change the entire world. Love your neighbour, love your friend, love your family, love your enemies. For by doing so we will send a healing grid all over the world changing perspective, tolerance, belief and above all changing our future and the future for all to come. Not withstanding money being the core driver for recent actions it is for those in power to reflect, evaluate and learn from these lessons albeit limited actions that can be overcome in due course.  Be kind to yourself but also be kind to every living thing and you will not go far wrong. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust the phoenix rises.

Love and Light
