Empowering you to become healthier and happier
In order to be a successful athlete in addition to maintaining high levels of physical fitness it is necessary to have the right mental attitude to ensure performance is maximised.
According to research sports performance has more to do with mental abilities rather than physical abilities. Every athlete, whether currently successful or not, has their own inner resources and accessing these inner resources and working on them is often an advantage that they have over their competitors.
Hypnotherapy has been used by athletes, for a wide variety of sports, for many years to enhance their physical and mental performance. Examples of sports professionals who have used hypnosis include the famous golfer Tiger Woods.
Sometimes sports people may simply ‘lose their mojo’, for whatever reason, and need help to get back ‘in the zone’ to enable them to refocus on working toward and achieving their sporting goals. I have personally helped a gold Olympic medallist to do just this.
Hypnotherapy is used to help the athlete to relax, remove any anxieties or negative thoughts, increase motivation and boost their confidence. Every sports person is different and the therapy is personalised to enable the athlete to maintain composure, overcome any distractions or fears and to gain greater confidence in their own ability. The therapy includes visualising achieving the sporting goal as the human brain can’t distinguish between doing something for real and imagining doing something so by visualising achieving the sporting goal helps to tune the mind ready for success.
At the first consultation, Lisa will be able to share more with you, as the sessions required varies dependent upon personal situation. For example if you are experiencing anxiety or stress, this will be need to be addressed as well as the specific sporting performance.
